As part of university coursework this UI/UX project was centered on designing and prototype of an app/kiosk
which provides a specific function. ParkingBuddy is intended to help anyone easily purchase and extend a
parking pass. While the primary goal is usability and simplicity, maintaining an aesthetically pleasing
design and enjoyable experience is just as important.
I chose this focus as I am frequently frustrated at
the applications available in my city for purchasing parking, both in their visual and systemic design. I
sought to create a parking app that reflected intuitive design which felt enjoyable to use, despite the
activity of purchasing parking being generally unenjoyable. My primary inspiration came from Apple's UI/UX
design, especially that which surrounds their Apple Pay system, which I find to be a very successful
example of making spending money a positive experience.
This prototype was created entirely in Figma and
nearly all the design assets are original, with a couple exemptions noted in a credits screen on the final
Dashboard Page. As part of the project, I developed several popup messages which guide a user through an
optional potential use case to demonstrate functionality.
To the right is the functioning prototype which can
